  mafia-like chasing

  so, i have missed 4 sunday meetings now for different reasons mainly fatigue cause i'm still in school and i'm up late almost everynight.

  anyways..the lady i study with decides to harass the house with relentless phone calls disturbing my mum (who doesnt like jws) for the last 3 days.

  she finally got through to me today because she called super early (before 7).

  happy-n-alive- Many Jw's do not understand boundaries. They are trained to ignore them. If you don't want people hounding you, you need to tell them. I would tell them do not call me at whatever time of the morning or not at all. That's up to you. And you definitely do not owe explanations to strangers at the KH asking where you've been.

  And if you feel like you are being mafia- chased now, how do you think you will feel if you continue associating with them? JW's are a high-control group. In other words- a cult. Be careful.

  Wow, Jgnat. I was intrigued by your title. Oh, I am sorry about your BIL. It must be a very difficult time for your sister and her children.

  Jw's always think that it's the right time to preach without consideration to others feelings or beliefs. You know, they really believe they are helping.

  (I'm not going to ask you how you ended up married to one or how long, but I hope you are happy.)

  Then there's the fear of Armageddon. What if I leave, and end up getting killed? What about my family? What if I'm wrong? What if Satan has gotten a hold of my thinking? And of course the no war, showing love, preaching, etc. that convinced me this was the true organization despite the problems.

  Those were my thoughts, too. Indoctrination.

  I always hated the hypocrisy that JW's condemned "apostates" but thought it to be fine if someone left their religion and became a JW.

  Also, with Harold Camping- his predictions and joking about it. (But some really have no idea about all the FALSE predictions.

  Also, a CO talked about how so many religions were only in it for money and spoke about a specific evangelizer who lives in a very ornate and lavish lifestyle.

  Not to mention the UN and the worst child abuse coverups.

  Stop fighting about Oompa.

  i am writing this because i am so upset about the bickering and fighting that is going on about oompa.

  this was an amazing wonderful, peaceful, giving man who never met a strager who is now deceased and you are taking his name and running all over the place with it using it for your own agendas.

  he is not a statistic.

  NC- they may look back and see something good in their time their, while planning the total destruction of the entire system. maw hawwwww.

  SOL- That's the problem with trying to demonize JWs as evil people: they simply aren't. My family aren't, and yours aren't, as are most of the JWs I've met are not, either. It just doesn't stick.

  STEVE2- Just as JWs cannot conceive of anyone outside the organization being genuinely happy, we don't want to fall into the reactive opposite trap of now assuming no one inside the organization is happy

  I was/am not a "happy witness", although I have had moments of happiness and JOY. But I do know happy,joyful, content witnesses. They do not know they are being LIED to. If they were to find out TTATT they would not be happy. But, even then, they would not deny the moments of happiness that they experienced.

  Leaving the Watchtower and your mental health

  i've seen that many in the organization have an unhealthy view of medical professionals, especially as it relates to psychiatry/psychology.

  i thought this was an appropriate topic considering what happened with oompa.

  how do you feel about your mental health now that you left?

  There are medical professionals in the org that have serious "issues" themselves. I wouldn't recommend anyone seeing a JW medical "professional".

  If a person needs help they should seek treatment.

  If they hear voices, they should definitely seek treatment.

  If they have a disassociative disorder, they should seek out professional treatment.

  If they have a physical injury, they should seek out professional treatment.

  If they have an infection or high fever, they should seek out professional medical treatment.

  Some Doctors are good, some are great and some, not so good and some bad.

  That's life.

  Find a Doctor you trust and get help if you need help.
